Den Phillips

Den Phillips is a renowned maritime photographer specialising in Classic & Traditional Boats, predominantly in black & white.

Den's images of traditional boats, skies and seascapes are highly evocative of her surrounding East Coast environment. Throughout the year she can be found photographing Thames barges, fishing smacks and classic yachts.

She lives on Osea Island on the River Blackwater in Essex, home to many of the surviving Thames barges, fishing smacks, bawleys and classic yachts. Throughout the year she photographs all aspects of this unique coastline, in particular the boats and the men and women who sail them.

Over the years she has amassed an extensive library of original black and white and colour photographs of these historic vessels.

Den exhibits her work internationally and her work appears frequently in magazines, books and newspapers. Although she specialises in marine subjects, Den also has a fascinating portfolio of work from her travels abroad and is willing to undertake photographic commissions. This is the thirteenth year of her popular calendar featuring the East Coast.
